"I AM . . . The Light of the World" -- Part 1

From the slanderous accusations to the murderous actions, in this chapter we witness opposition towards Jesus at its height. And yet, the most shocking part is that the people with curses on their tongues, and hatred in their hearts are the very ones who had "believed" in Jesus! In this section we witness Jesus, the Light of the World, surface the vital distinction between faith that is genuine, and faith that is phony.

"I AM . . . The Bread of Life" -- Part 3

In the closing scene of John 6, the 12 apostles are forced to wrestle with the cost of following Jesus. In the face of all the opposition and rejection, Jesus asks these men if they want to join that crowds and leave him too. When faced with the cost of following Jesus, may God give us the faith to respond with Peter, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy one of God."

"I AM . . . The Bread of Life" -- Part 2

In this incredible chapter, Jesus identifies himself as the Bread of Life. As this Bread from heaven, we see what Jesus alone can provide: eternal satisfaction, eternal life, and eternal security.

"I AM . . . The Bread of Life" -- Part 1

Over the course of John 6, we witness Jesus' followers, in staggering numbers, turn around and walk away. The reason for their desertion was that Jesus was not the Messiah they wanted. In this chapter we, like them, are instructed by Jesus "not to work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life."

"I AM" -- Introduction

Jesus is not merely another spiritual sage adding his voice to the discussion, he is God, the Great I AM. Therefore, when he speaks we must listen, when he calls we must come, and where he goes we must follow.
